Local Band Drop Dead Famous Giving Back To Community This Holiday Season

Local band Drop Dead Famous (DDF) will be donating all monies made when their single “Survive Tonight” is purchased on i-Tunes between December 18th  and
January 1st, 2014 to the Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB).

Realizing that it is not always a “happy” holiday season for many in our community, lead vocal of DDF, Rob Higgins says, “We want this song to remind people to look beyond themselves this season.  If you’re one of the fortunate ones to be happy, take a minute to share it, listen, even just offer a free smile – it could be a family member, a friend or a complete stranger in the store next to you that is silently asking for help, for understanding, for a simple reason to get through the next hour of their day.  Our simple acts of kindness, which cost us nothing, can mean the world to someone hurting.”

CMHA-WECB has been part of the health care delivery system in our community for over 35 years.  When you give you know you are making a difference in the lives of many people in our community.  One more day is a big deal to someone who wasn’t sure if they could survive another minute.  Kim Willis from CMHA-WECB says, "The holidays can be a difficult time of year for many people, particularly those dealing with grief. Although family and friends help, many people seek help and support from bereavement specialists at CMHA. The proceeds from sales of the song will go towards our bereavement program for adults and children. This program receives minimal government funding, relying on community support for its existence."

SKinov8ive Medical Esthetics Provides Winter Coats For Needy Children

SKinov8ive Joins “Coats for Kids” Campaign

SKinov8ive Medical Esthetics is proud to announce  they have joined the “Coats for Kids” campaign for 2013/2014.

“Coats for Kids” is a program administered by the Unemployed Help Centre in Windsor. Every year, they collect, clean and distribute more than 5,000 coats to children and youth in the Windsor-Essex region.

“It’s sad to think that there are children in our community without proper coats to get them through the winter,” said Karey Menzies, co-owner of SKinov8ive. “Coats for Kids is a wonderful program and we’re proud to be participating. We encourage our clients and everyone in the community to assist us in this cause.”

Donations will be collected throughout the winter season. They can be dropped off at SKinov8ive during regular business hours at their Tecumseh location, 13300 Lanoue Street (just off Manning Road behind McDonalds).

Visit SKinov8ive.com for hours and directions.
