Bell Let’s Talk donates $15,000 to
support the Community Counselling Alliance
The Community Counselling Alliance (CCA) is pleased to
receive a $15,000 grant from the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund to support
mental health programs in the community.
The Community
Counselling Alliance, which is delivered through the Canadian Mental Health
Association and Family Services Windsor-Essex, provides one-to-one and group
support for people in Windsor and Essex County, as well as crisis-response
walk-in clinics in Leamington and Windsor.
“We’re
extremely grateful to the Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund for their tremendous
support of those in our community who are facing mental health issues,” said
Mary Wilson, Acting CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association Windsor-Essex
County Branch. “With Bell’s support, access to walk-in clinics will be
increased in our community.”
The CCA
program addresses the mental health needs of individuals, couples, families,
and seniors. The team of experts offer supportive, confidential counselling and
education groups on many topics including parenting, addictions, anger
management, life transition, short-term family therapy, mood disorders and
self-esteem.
“Since 2011,
the Bell Let's Talk Community Fund has invested more than $4 million to support
groups working to fight stigma and improve access to mental health care in
communities throughout Canada,” said Mary Deacon, Chair of Bell Let's Talk. “As
we get ready for Bell Let’s Talk Day on January 28, we are very pleased to
support the vital mental health programs provided by the Community Counselling
Alliance. The CCA is one of the almost 60 initiatives supported by the 2014
Bell Let’s Talk Community Fund as they provide much-needed help to people
living with mental illness and the family and friends who care for them.”
The Bell Let's Talk initiative promotes Canadian mental health with national awareness and anti-stigma campaigns, like Clara's Big Ride for Bell Let's Talk and Bell Let's Talk Day, and significant Bell funding of community care and access, research, and workplace programs.
On January
28, Bell Let’s Talk Day, for every text message, wireless and long distance
call made by Bell Canada and Bell Aliant customers, every tweet using
#BellLetsTalk, and every Facebook share of that day’s Bell Let’s Talk Day image

health programs. To learn more, please visit Bell.ca/LetsTalk
The CCA,
which is also funded by United Way, provided more than 5,400 one-on-one
counselling sessions last year. As a result of the CCA, people are getting the
support they need when then need it in our community.
CMHA-WECB enhances and promotes the mental health of
all persons and supports the resilience and recovery of people experiencing
mental illness in our community through education, prevention, advocacy and
services. The need for mental health services has never been greater with at
least one in five Canadians affected by a mental illness in their lifetime.
