Jack Miner Sanctuary Events December 5th and 6th, 2015

Santa is coming to the Jack Miner Sanctuary! Join them as they celebrate Christmas at Jack Miner on Friday December 4th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday Dec. 5th & Sunday Dec. 6th from 1-4pm.

Have your photo taken with Santa in front of the fire in the historic Jack Miner Home Friday evening as he makes a brief stop before heading back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas! Take your chances on the toonie sale and listen to live music in the Clubhouse as you nibble on Christmas cookies and cider. The Jack Miner House and the Clubhouse are all decked out for Christmas and the birds are waiting for your visit! December 5th and 6th, kids’ activities will take place in the Clubhouse and the house and museum will also be open. Listen to Christmas carols on the old Victrola that Jack once listened to!

Best of all, admission is free, though donations are appreciated, including non-perishable items for the Kingsville Food Bank or the Humane Society.

Get in the Christmas spirit with a stop at Jack Miner, and remember to feed the birds!

"Hope in the City Luncheon" November 23, 2015

The Salvation Army of Windsor's first ever Hope in the City Luncheon is quickly approaching- November 23, 2015.

This luncheon event, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918), is based on a National platform and provides an opportunity for attendees to network with like-minded community and business leaders to learn about the support opportunities available and how they can collaborate with The Salvation Army in bringing vital services to people in need in Windsor and area.

Special guests include keynote speaker, Ms. Jody Steinhauer. As President and CBO (Chief Bargain Officer) of the Bargains Group, Jody Steinhauer has mobilized her award winning discount wholesale and promotional products company to revolutionize the business landscape. A winner of the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and a PROFIT W100 Recipient, Jody Steinhauer uses her network of resources and leveraged buying power to aid every company and not-for-profit agency that she touches to maximize their buying dollar. Pioneering her belief of “giving back makes good business sense”, Jody is a tireless not-for-profit advocate, and the founder of the national charity, Engage and Change, and its two annual initiatives, Project Winter Survival and Project Water of which The Salvation Army in Windsor has been a recipient.

Also participating, as Master of Ceremonies, is Jim Crichton. He is Senior News Anchor at CTV in Windsor and a trusted face in local news.  Jim has been a member of both Halifax and Windsor Advisory Boards for The Salvation Army.

The luncheon kicks off an important season of giving and calls on local leaders to support charitable programs at a critical time of need in the community. The Hope in the City luncheon welcomes prominent business and community leaders to network with like-minded individuals while finding new ways to support the Windsor community.

The Hope in the City luncheon will take place at the Giovanni Caboto Club on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 11:45 a.m. Tickets are $20 each or $160 for a table of eight and are going fast. Order your tickets today to avoid disappointment. Call 519-253-7473 ext. 215 or visit www.SalvationArmyWindsor.ca.

There is hope in this city!
