4TH ANNUAL HANDMADE CHRISTMAS EXTRAVAGANZA
The winter is here, and that means it’s time to do some Christmas shopping at C.C.’s Events 4th Annual Handmade Christmas Extravaganza at the WFCU Centre.  The 4th Annual Handmade Christmas Extravaganza will be sure to have the perfect Christmas gift for everyone on your list including home decor, gifts, bath & body products, jewelry, wood crafts, pottery, gourmet food items, and other great handmade items along with some great, unique stocking stuffers!
The 4th Annual Handmade Christmas Extravaganza will take over Collavino Hall and the Sports Gym of the WFCU Centre on Saturday, December 12th from 10am-5pm and again Sunday, December 13th, from 10am-4pm. Admission to the event is free, however organizers encourage donations to The CMHA Bereavement Group at the door.








The Bereavement Program at the Canadian Mental Health Association, Windsor-Essex County Branch (CMHA-WECB), provides supportive grief counseling to bereaved individuals, as well as education and consultation to community agencies, groups and the general public. Facilitated support groups based on type of death or relationship to the deceased offer peer support and education which promote understanding of grieving process, as well as learning and implementation of healthy coping strategies.
In less than four years, C.C.’s Events has raised $15,126.37 in cash donations and other necessary items for local charities including Street Help, Reach For The Skye, The Blue House, W.Y.C., The Windsor-Essex Humane Society, Welcome Centre, and The Windsor-Essex Ice Bullets.
Parents can also enjoy a fun-filled family day with their kids at the children's activity centre, photos with Santa, and more!  Patrons can stop by the raffle table for their chance to win great handmade prizes & Windsor Spitfires tickets.

Jack Miner Sanctuary Events December 5th and 6th, 2015



Santa is coming to the Jack Miner Sanctuary! Join them as they celebrate Christmas at Jack Miner on Friday December 4th from 6 to 8 pm and Saturday Dec. 5th & Sunday Dec. 6th from 1-4pm.


Have your photo taken with Santa in front of the fire in the historic Jack Miner Home Friday evening as he makes a brief stop before heading back to the North Pole to get ready for Christmas! Take your chances on the toonie sale and listen to live music in the Clubhouse as you nibble on Christmas cookies and cider. The Jack Miner House and the Clubhouse are all decked out for Christmas and the birds are waiting for your visit! December 5th and 6th, kids’ activities will take place in the Clubhouse and the house and museum will also be open. Listen to Christmas carols on the old Victrola that Jack once listened to!


Best of all, admission is free, though donations are appreciated, including non-perishable items for the Kingsville Food Bank or the Humane Society.


Get in the Christmas spirit with a stop at Jack Miner, and remember to feed the birds!

"Hope in the City Luncheon" November 23, 2015



The Salvation Army of Windsor's first ever Hope in the City Luncheon is quickly approaching- November 23, 2015.


This luncheon event, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Windsor (1918), is based on a National platform and provides an opportunity for attendees to network with like-minded community and business leaders to learn about the support opportunities available and how they can collaborate with The Salvation Army in bringing vital services to people in need in Windsor and area.


Special guests include keynote speaker, Ms. Jody Steinhauer. As President and CBO (Chief Bargain Officer) of the Bargains Group, Jody Steinhauer has mobilized her award winning discount wholesale and promotional products company to revolutionize the business landscape. A winner of the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Canada’s Top 40 Under 40, and a PROFIT W100 Recipient, Jody Steinhauer uses her network of resources and leveraged buying power to aid every company and not-for-profit agency that she touches to maximize their buying dollar. Pioneering her belief of “giving back makes good business sense”, Jody is a tireless not-for-profit advocate, and the founder of the national charity, Engage and Change, and its two annual initiatives, Project Winter Survival and Project Water of which The Salvation Army in Windsor has been a recipient.

Also participating, as Master of Ceremonies, is Jim Crichton. He is Senior News Anchor at CTV in Windsor and a trusted face in local news.  Jim has been a member of both Halifax and Windsor Advisory Boards for The Salvation Army.

The luncheon kicks off an important season of giving and calls on local leaders to support charitable programs at a critical time of need in the community. ARA 37th Annual Art Exhibition Until Nov, 15, 2015



Local Artist Association Focuses on Preserving Representational Art


 
The Association of Representational Artists (ARA) of Windsor & Essex is holding an Art Exhibition (show & sale) from October 23rd to Nov.15th, 2015.


The exhibition will be located at Windsor Crossing Unit 780 (next to Bowring) -1555 Talbot Rd., LaSalle.


They are presenting their 37th annual installment to the public. You are invited to see the show and help support the local artists. There will be 39 artists displaying nearly 170 paintings. The Public is welcome to view and purchase original compositions in water-colour, acrylic, oil, pastel and other mediums. Side by side, the ARA has established artists; evolving artists and undiscovered talents that sell their work directly to the public. They make lasting connections with art patrons, dealer and collectors. Many of their painting hang in our area home and around the world.


The ARA was established by a small group of artists back in 1978 with a focus on preserving representational painting.


At that time there was much encroachment form contemporary abstract, expressionism and pop art movements. 


These founding Artists established the ARA in our region to continue the practice of realism and representational art in a painting format.


Gallery hours of operation will be; Thurs 10 am to 9 pm, Fri. 10 am to 9 pm, Sat. 10 am to 6 pm, Sun. 12 noon to 5 pm

Children's Arts Festival, Sunday Oct. 25, 2015 at Bloomin Gardener

A new children’s festival is being planned and promoted by: the Windsor International Writers Conference; the Windsor Centre for Film, Digital Media & the Creative Arts; Olde Walkerville Theatre; the Film Camp for Kids & Youth; and the Arts Culture Collective (ACT).  These groups have joined forces to put on an exciting interactive event that is affordable and open to the public - $10 for adults and $5 for children; a family of four or more $25.


The Children’s Arts Festival: Choose Your Own Adventure takes place Sunday, October 25th from 11AM to 5PM at the Bloomin' Gardener, 6673 8th Concession in Old Castle.  Children and youth of all ages will explore and experience the arts in this unique garden and holiday harvest setting. The festival is an indoor event, and the Bloomin’ Gardener will also have plenty for the parents to see and enjoy.  There are no worries about inclement weather!


“All of us need the arts,” says Pam Goldstein, chairman of the event. “Especially children. In this world of so much darkness and fear, children need the joy of creativity. With the Arts they get to express themselves. They learn to invent, experiment and make mistakes. The arts allows them to grow, take risks and have fun.”


Some of the Program Highlights include: Town Criers - Peter Hrastovec & Taras Natyshak; Diplomats Drum Corps; Amherstburg Bell Choir; Music by Ben Goldstein; Painting by Lorraine Steele and Anne Nantais; Jewellery making by Greg Deherte; the Essex Medieval Heritage Society Archery and Village Display; Creating a Garden by Klinck's Farms; Lakeshore Academy of Fine Arts; Magic by Bill Nuvo; The WI-WC Young Authors Group – Stories; Juniper and PB bookstores with storytelling times; Book Characters; Cooking by the Twisted Apron; Singing; Wand Lessons; Green Screen Costume Photos by the Film Camp for Kids & Youth; Photography by Joe Symchyshyn; the Stilt Guys.
