Red Cross celebrates “March is Red Cross Month”
Each year, the Red Cross celebrates “March is Red Cross Month” by raising
awareness about the contributions the organization makes to the community. Here
in Windsor/Essex alone, the Red Cross assisted more than 650
people last year, thanks to the support and dedication of more than 120
volunteers.
To
recognize March is Red Cross month, the community is invited to attend an
Open House
on Thursday, March 7 from 10am to 3pm
at The Canadian Red Cross
located at 3909 Grand Marais Road East, Windsor

Attendees will enjoy tours of the facility,
first aid games, live FASTeam scenarios, snacks and refreshments, plus, enter
for a chance to win a First Aid Kit, Babysitting
course or Emergency First Aid Course! Also, sign-up for a March First Aid course and receive the second one
for 25% off. “We hope that community members will join us to celebrate the work
of the Red Cross,” said Lily-May LeBlanc, Community Services Coordinator, First
Aid/ Injury Prevention.
For more than 100 years, the Canadian Red
Cross has provided help and hope to those facing conflict, disaster, injury or
illness here at home and around the world. Every four minutes, the Canadian Red
Cross responds to a disaster in Canada providing support and comfort to those
affected. The Red Cross also offers a variety of services that help elderly and
vulnerable members of the community remain living in their own homes, including
Meals on Wheels, Transportation and the Health Equipment Loan Program. First
aid, water safety, violence and abuse prevention programs and workshops on humanitarian
issues are also offered by the Red Cross.
