Super Santa Run in Amherstburg November 16, 2013

Amherstburg – The Essex Region Conservation Foundation is calling all runners, walkers, and Santa enthusiasts to don a Santa suit and running shoes on November 16^th, 2013 to race along a five kilometre route for the 5^th annual Super Santa Run.

This incredible five kilometre fun run will take place just prior to the Amherstburg River Lights Festival opening ceremonies.  All participants will receive a FREE 5 piece Santa suit to wear for the run, including a traditional red jacket and pants, belt, beard, and of course, Santa hat.

“This is event is fun for the whole family.  In addition to promoting healthy and active living, it is a great way to kick off the holiday season,” said Foundation President Ken Schmidt. 

 

The cost is just $35 per adult and $20 for children under 16 years old.  New this year is Early Bird pricing, saving participants $5 if they register before October 12^th.  Runners will meet on Saturday, November 16^th at 5pm sharp in Navy Yard Park, Amherstburg, on Dalhousie Street.  Be there early to receive your timing bib and race instructions. 

 The Essex Region Conservation Foundation is also looking for volunteers to help marshal at the race.  Volunteers will be positioned at various locations around the Amherstburg race route.  “This will be a great event to be involved in and will put you in the festive spirit,” said Schmidt.

The Essex Region Conservation Foundation has been working with the Essex Region Conservation Authority to raise the funds to protect and improve our local environment and water quality in the Great Lakes.  Protecting existing natural areas, planting trees and building trails are just some of the successes that the Foundation has realized over the past three decades.
