Donate a Sleeping Bag until November 24, 2014

Sharing the Warmth Sleeping Bag Drive

Chief Bruce Montone and Windsor Fire & Rescue Services are partnering with the Sharing the Warmth sleeping bag donation campaign in memory of Matt Rawlings.

After Matt’s death in 2012, his parents discovered his “bucket list,” which included the item, “Help a homeless person.”  Inspired by Matt’s wish, the local family’s goal is to provide a little warmth this winter to Windsor’s most vulnerable, our homeless.

Sharing the Warmth is a sleeping bag drive with a goal to collect as many new or gently used sleeping bags as possible to be donated to Street Help, a local organization dedicated to providing services to our local homeless.  The family is seeking community involvement and asking individuals, companies, organizations, schools and sports teams to join them by collecting and donating new or gently used sleeping bags.

Matt’s family is also encouraging participants to take a photo of their groups posing with the bags and post it on their Sharing the Warmth Facebook page.

Interested participants are asked to drop sleeping bags off at any Windsor Fire & Rescue Services station until November 24.  The sleeping bags are to be donated to Street Help on November 25, which would have been Matt Rawlings’ 21st birthday.
