In December 2013, employees and volunteers from Ford
Motor Company of Canada, Unifor Locals 200 & 240, Voith Industrial Services
and Penske Logistics Canada announced their contribution to United Way’s 2013
Campaign.
“Ford Motor Company, in partnership with Unifor Local 200, Unifor Local
240, Voith and Penske are leaders in our community” said Keith Henry, Chair,
2013 United Way Campaign Cabinet. “We
can always count on the support of the employees, retirees and members from
these workplaces. We’re so grateful for
their support,” he added.
Ford
and Unifor Locals 200 and 240 have been incredibly supportive of the community
for years. Throughout the year, they organized
a toy and food drive to support United Way funded programs, volunteered their
time to support the Coats for Kids and Days of Caring in the local
community. United
Way’s Annual Campaign continues to be a top priority for the employees and
members of these organizations.
“United Way is at the heart of our community, supporting those most
vulnerable in Windsor-Essex,” stated Shaun Whitehead, Site Manager, Ford Motor
Company of Canada. “Our employees and
members are proud to support United Way and our local community,” she added.
During the event, employees and members of these organizations announced
the combined contribution from their workplace and retirees, which totaled an
incredible $571,982 – an average employee gift of $400. The announcement marked the
single largest donation to United Way’s 2013 Campaign to date, and set a
benchmark for other workplaces in the community to follow.
“I’m so incredibly proud of the canvassers and our members,” said Chris
Taylor, President, Unifor Local 200. “The workforce, employees and members are
dedicated to this community. We know
that by supporting United Way, we’re making a difference right here at home,”
he added.
Earlier this year, United Way announced a goal of $5.1 million in
support of the 2013 Fundraising Campaign. United Way’s 2013 Campaign officially
wraps up at the end of March 2014. United Way is urging residents to consider
giving to the community through United Way. Donations can be made online at www.weareunited.com/donate or by calling United Way at 519-258-0000 x1145.
